When I told my mother this morning that I got a pay raise, she mumbled “okay” and then moved on to nagging me about how late I’m working and how I look like I’ve been ran across by a truck and how little rest I seemed to be getting. I was hurt that she didn’t seem to care that I was making progress at work. I sulked about it all morning until it hit me that she did care - for my well-being that is. I’m such an idiot. And, I love my mommy loads.
I had a talk with my shrink, Mr L, today and he said something that stuck: ”It ain’t sad till you make it sad, honey.” I don’t see him often, but I think I’ve got the best shrink in the world. Plus, he’s cute and he calls me “babe“. That does alot for my ego! :D
I’m looking forward to the weekends! I’ve got some catching up to do. And, I’m finishing up Dicey Business this weekend! And get some shopping done. Wheet~

MY NEW BEST FREN
Is good ole’ Chicken of Essence! I actually like drinking it, I have no idea why most people I know hate it :( Mommy has been making soup for me a lot these days. I guess it’s her way of showing me how much she cares, despite nagging me day in day out about how little time I spend at home helping with chores :)
I get emotionally attached/dependent on people too easily. It’s not bad thing, but it’s not a good thing either. On the other hand, if I don’t like somebody, that bad impression stays on for a really long time and I make almost zero effort to go change that. Now that, my friends, is definitely a bad thing.
Went shopping last weekend with PQ and PQ’s sister in Bugis trying to find a dress for this Friday’s formal function. Somebody told me it’s okay to dress down. Er, luckily I didn’t buy that or I’ll be in a huge fix now. Managed to get something really nice! :) I saw a tonne of gorgeous dresses at BYSI, but their sizes are just absurdly big. After, we had dinner at this cool little Taiwanese eatery. Great noodle soup! And pretty economical too. A little short of choices though, else it would’ve been great-er.
I wonder if I’ve gotten myself entangled in the scary world of endless work. If it ends, I’m afraid. If it doesn’t, I get more afraid.
I had a pretty bad week. I spent a full day trying to work out one f*cking design. I ought to be shot. Do people usually take this bloody long to get something out? I’m getting worse at this.
I was browsing through Friendster awhile ago, looking through pictures of people I hadn’t seen in ages and it suddenly hit me that these faces have become faces of strangers. I hadn’t seen these people for so long, that if I were to see them on the streets one day, I will hesitate to walk up and say hello. Most times, I believe, I’ll just keep on walking. It doesn’t matter how good we used to be. Time is the furthest distance - friendships need working on too. It’s upsetting when we no longer have anything to say to each other, but people move on. There’s nothing to be sad about, really.
Urgh. So tired. Shall go find somebody to rant to.

WE LOVE MAKING MERRY

It wasn’t the most elaborate birthday celebration we’ve had - it was a little rushed, everyone was a little flustered and we didn’t even get to prepare much of anything :( But despite it all, I think it had been a pretty good night, with great company.
I had lots of shite to finish that night so I only managed to leave the office around 9.50pm. My boss was kind enough to made me take a cab, knowing I had an appointment that night. Managed to reach town around 10pm, met up with PQ and rushed down to Swensons where KK and BK were already waiting. Felt bad :(
We ate, talked, made merry and took pictures. Later, PQ had to leave and we headed out hoping to do some late night shopping in hope of getting some good grabs. BUT, apparently late night shopping means everything closes before 12 midnight. Bah!! What kind of late night shopping is that?
So after walking around for abit, we finally decided to catch the last train back to the West, where we hung out at McDees for more talk and drinks before heading home.
I hate that we’ve all gotten so busy (and it’s only going to get worse) but I guess that’s what makes finally meeting up so precious.

NOTHING

It’s getting a little scary how we’re all growing old so fast, it’s not funny anymore. I was just talking to Evwin and BK about how we can only get busier. First, it’ll be school, then it’ll be work. Then, some of us will get attached. Then, the married gets married. Then, kids will come along. And then, that’s when one gets even busier. First, you worry about them growing up. Then comes kindergarden, primary school, secondary school. Then tertiary studies. Then, you worry when they start working. Then, they get attached and then get married. Then they have kids…and the list goes on, and on, and on.

WEEKEND UNO
My first week of work has been super, super busy - I swear I’ve never done this much designing, editing and conceptualizing in a week!
I’m not sure if starting at 10am is a good idea at all, because that means I get off an hour later too. Which also means I get home earliest about 8pm everyday. It’s tiring, but I think I might be beginning get grasp the way things are working around here. It’s still rush-rush, which I still hate, but its not as bad as I first started. My boss and colleagues are pretty cool people too, so yeh, no complains.
I think I honestly need to give some thought about the direction I want my career to be going.
In other news, it was my sister’s birthday earlier this week! :D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! *kisses and hugs*

WHAT DON’T I LIKE ABOUT YOU
1. Run when you’re Jaywalking - I’m observed a noticable number of people leisurely strolling across the road when they’re obviously jaywalking. Even when there’s a vehicle coming their way. I have no words for these people. That is just insanity isn’t it? What were you trying to do? Want to die is it? Not this way, f*cker! You’ll not only be getting yourself into trouble, you’ll get the person driving into loads of shite too. Smarten up, pea brains. When you’re jaywalking, make a friggin’ run for it, or else, use the pedestrain crossing.
2. Sunny Singapore - is a great place to start wearing sunnies! Do you know how much harm UV rays can do to your eyes? Let me give you a list:
(a) Cataracts (b) Cancer of the eye (c) Burn corneas and conjunctivae (d) Wrinkles around the eyes (e) Age-related macular degeneration. I’ve since made both my parents wear sunglasses when they’re out in the sun. Oh, and don’t get those sunglasses you see by the street. They’re cheap but they do nothing to protect your eyes. Make sure you choose a pair of sunglasses with a certified UV protection. The thing about Singapore is that we don’t have the culture of wearing sunnies - we rather use brellies -_-” It’s weird. Start wearing sunnies. They make a great fashion statement!
3. Be friendly to strangers - I’ve had people running away from me when I try to ask them for directions. What? I look very scary is it? Why run away?! The only people I run away from are creepy looking people and people who persistently try to sell me something even after I say no.
4. Pregnant Lady Alert! - I think it’s a pretty amazing feat, but I’ve personally witnessed 20 over people falling asleep instantly when a pregnant lady steps into the train. How do they do that? I want to learn lor! That aside, I think it’s damn rude. Give up your seat to the lady for God’s sake. It’s not that hard. These people were all young, able bodied people, mind you. It’s so sad. Didn’t your parents teach you to give up your seat to the people who need it more than you? I can’t wait until you’re pregnant yourself, or you wife gets pregnant and nobody bothers to offer their seat to you or your wife. What goes around comes around. Learn now or regret later.
5. Work Less, Play more - It’s not a sin getting off work on time! It’s not illegal either. But it will be if I do excessive OT. What is it about Singaporeans and their strange obsession with working late? We all need to live our lives more. Work when you need to, but play when you have to. We need to spend more time with our hobbies, our families, our friends, our lovers and people we love. Come’on. Life is so short lor, and we already spend 1/3 of it sleeping (cos we HAVE TO) - if we devote what’s left of it working, we don’t have much left for anything else!
6. Why so Stingy with our Praises? - If I just had a plate of super good carrot cake and if I happen to be in a good mood, I will walk back to the stall and tell the uncle he makes super carrot cake. I don’t do it all the time, but I try to. I know it will make his day, and he already made mine, so why not? If my mom’s chicken wings tastes exceptionally good that night, why should I constrain myself from praising it? Or if somebody said something that made me really happy, I will let the person know. It’s a good habit. Start saying nice things to people. It makes us happier people too!
I re-read my last entry and I realised I came off sounding a little too calculative when it comes to doing favors for people. I admit, I am calculative when it comes to favors, but for very simple reasons. I don’t believe in doing favors for people whom I feel don’t deserve it. Like for example when I feel you’re obviously trying to take advantage of me or the situation. Or I feel you can do it but you’re just too lazy to do it. Or if you’re not sincere about it - getting someone to ask someone to ask someone else for a favor on your behalf. Or, if I don’t like you. Hehe.

BLUE
I’m feeling a little blue. Just a little. I don’t know what got into me. I should be feeling extremely joyful, I should be celebrating, I should be…doing little dances in the bathroom. Except I’m not. I’m due to leave end of the month and the idea of moving on alone is freaking me out a little. No wonder they say women are hard to understand - well, that’s an understatement. I don’t even understand myself sometimes.
I’m so tired these days too. Too many late nights I supposed. I’m stuck in this phase where I’m unable to be cheerful. It takes tremendous effort for me to smile, to crack a joke or even to make conversation! It’s killing me. I don’t know what’s going on - or what’s making me miserable. (EMO ALERT!!!) The other day after dinner with PP and DL, I was walking home when the skies were already dark. I reached the void deck of my block and I didn’t feel like going up so I sat myself on one of those stone benches facing the empty badminton court and I just …sat there. I don’t know how long I stayed - about 30 mins I reckon, until it got too quiet, so I headed upstairs.
Even shopping didn’t entirely cheered me up. Went shopping with PY for about 3 days in a row last week. Got some pretty good buys - like the white camisole from bod.bodyknits which was reduced from $49.90 to $14.90. Unfortunately, this year’s GSS was nothing to shout about. Even the m)phiosis sale was a flop. Hopefully the MNG and Zara sale this year would be good.
I hadn’t been blogging for days, I realized. But there’s nothing to blog about, even though tonnes seemed to have happened lately.
I need some serious cheering up!!
